It may be a Seller’s Market here in the Brazos Valley, so how can you as a buyer get an edge? By getting pre-approved, or even better, pre-qualified! This is the vital first step in the home buying process.
Whether you are buying your first home or your retirement home, if you will be seeking a loan to purchase your home, here are a couple of the needed documents that you will need to gather to get started:
- Tax Returns – Gather you tax returns from the past two years.
- Pay Stubs – the last 30 days.
Once you have the above items, give 2-3 lenders a call! You should be able to gauge the right lender for you after a simple phone call and by how quickly they follow up with you, and if they are timely and responsive. It is also good to compare rates. Just make sure lenders do NOT PULL YOUR CREDIT until you are ready to commit to a lender. Multiple inquires can “ding” your credit score and may cause it to drop slightly.
Once the lender has reviewed these documents, they will guide you through any other documents or information that they may need.
It’s important to work with a reputable, trustworthy and attentive lender. Email me if you would like lender recommendations.
The goal is for Buyer, Realtor, and Lender to work together as a team. Choosing the right Realtor and Lender can set you up for a smooth and successful transaction. I would love to serve you or any friends and family that may be looking to buy or sell!
